Best Wishes for Sessional Tests

for Sessional test (18/11/2009 - 20/11/2009)

Failure Does Not Mean I’m A Failure

Failure does not mean I’m a failure; It does mean I have not yet succeeded.
Failure does not mean I have accomplished nothing; It does mean I have learned something.
Failure does not mean I have been a fool;It does mean I had enough faith to experiment.
Failure does not mean I have disgraced; It does mean I have dared to try.
Failure does not mean I don’t have it;It does mean I have something to do in a different way.
Failure does not mean I am inferior; It does mean I am not perfect.
Failure does not mean I have wasted my life;It does mean that I have an excuse to start over.
Failure does not mean that I should give up;It does mean that I should try harder.
Failure does not mean that I will never make it;It does mean that I need more practice.
Failure does not mean that You have abandoned me;It does mean that You must have a better idea.

Can you sell a dead donkey?

A city boy, Kenny, moved to the country and bought a donkey from an old farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day.The next day the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news, the donkey died last night."
Kenny replied: "Well then, just give me my money back."
The farmer said: "Can't do that. I went and spent it already."
Kenny said: "OK then, just unload the donkey.."
The farmer asked: "What ya gonna do with him?"Kenny: "I'm going to raffle him off." (Note: To raffle is to sell a thing by lottery - draw lot - to a group of people each paying the same amount for a ticket)
Farmer: "You can't raffle off a dead donkey!"
Kenny: "Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead."
A month later the farmer met up with Kenny and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?" Kenny: "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars apiece and made a profit of $898.00."
Farmer: "Didn't anyone complain?"Kenny: "Just the guy who won. So I gave him back his two dollars."
Kenny grew up and eventually became the chairman of a MNC

Please speak slowly and Politely with kids

A little boy was doing his maths homework. He said to himself," Two plus two, the Son of a bitch is four. Three plus six, the son of a bitch is nine..."

His mother heard what he was saying and gasped, "What are you doing?"

The little boy answered, "I'm doing my maths homework, Mom."

"And this is how your teacher taught you to do it?" the mother asked.

"Yes," he answered.

Infuriated, the mother asked the teacher the next day, "What are you teaching my son in maths?"

The teacher replied, "Right now, we are learning addition."

The mother asked, "And are you teaching them to say two plus two, the Son of a bitch is four?"
"Oh, heavens!" said the teacher. "That's not what I taught them. They're supposed to say, 'Two plus two, the sum of which is four.' "

Please speak audibly that the kids can hear your exact words guys

pyar to pyar hai

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn'tmean they don't love you with all they have.
Jim and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while theyWere walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped intothe deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled JimOut.When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act, sheimmediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she nowconsidered her to be mentally stable.

When she went to tell Edna thenews she said, "Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged; since you were able to respond rationally to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of another patient, I have concluded that your act displays that you have a sound mind. The bad news is, Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead."Edna replied, "He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?"

Charlie bit my finger

From:HDCYT

Mother is God's greatest blessing

My mom only had one eye. I hated her... she was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students teachers to support the family. There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me.I was so embarrassed. How could she do this to me?I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out.The next day at school one of my classmates said, EEEE, your mom only has one eye!I wanted to bury myself.I also wanted my mom to just disappear.I confronted her that day and said, If you are only goanna make me a laughing stock, why don't you just die?My mom did not respond...I didnot even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger.I was oblivious to her feelings.I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her.So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.
Then, I got married.I bought a house of my own.I had kids of my own.I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts, Then one day, my mother came to visit me.She had not seen me in years and she didnot even meet her grandchildren. When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited.I screamed at her, How dare you come to my house and scare my children! GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!And to this, my mother quietly answered, Oh, I am so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address, and she disappeared out of sight.
One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity. My neighbors said that she died.I did not shed a single tear. They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have. My dearest son,I think of you all the time. I am sorry that I came to your house and scared your children.I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you.I am sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.You know... When you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye.As a mother, I couldnot stand watching you having to grow up with one eye.So I gave you mine.I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye. With all my love to you,Your mother.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Mother is God's greatest blessing to we human beings. Many times we don't understand her feelings and the contributions she makes to bring us up. But she happily accepts everything that comes our way ONLY TO SEE US HAPPY.

Three Laughing Saints

I have heard about three Chinese mystics. Nobody knows their names. They were known only as the 'Three Laughing Saints', because they never did anything else; they simply laughed. They moved from one town to another, laughing. They would stand in the market place and have a good belly laugh. The whole market-place would surround them. All the people would come, shops would close and customers would forget for what they had come. These three people were really beautiful -- laughing and their bellies waving. And then it would become an infection and others would start laughing. Then the whole market-place would laugh.
They had changed the quality of the market. And if somebody would say, 'Say some thing to us,' they would say, 'We have nothing to say. We simply laugh and change the quality.' When just a few moments before, it was an ugly place where people were thinking only of money -- hankering for money, greedy, money the only milieu around -- suddenly these three mad people came and they laughed, and changed the quality of the whole market-place. Now nobody was a customer. Now they had forgotten that they had come to purchase and sell. Nobody bothered about greed. They were laughing and they w ere dancing around these three mad people. For a few seconds a new world opened.
They moved all over China, from place to place, from village to village, just helping people to laugh. Sad people, angry people, greedy people, jealous people: they all started laughing with them. And many felt the key -- you can transform.
Then, in one village it happened that one of the three died. Village people gathered and they said, 'Now there will be trouble. Now we have to see how they laugh. Their friend has died; they must weep.' But when they came, the two were dancing, laughing and celebrating the death. The village people said, 'Now this is too much. This is unmannerly. When a man is dead it is profane to laugh and dance.' They said, 'You don't know what has happened! All three of us were always thinking of who was going to die first. This man has won; we are defeated. The whole life we laughed with him. How can we give him the last send off with anything else? -- we have to laugh, we have to enjoy, we have to celebrate. This is the only farewell that is possible for the man who has laughed his whole life. And if we don't laugh, he will laugh at us and he will think, "You fools! So you have fallen again into the trap?" We don't see that he is dead. How can laughter die, how can life die?'
Laughter is eternal, life is eternal, celebration continues. Actors change but the drama continues. Waves change but the ocean continues. You laugh, you change and somebody else laughs, but laughter continues. You celebrate, somebody else celebrates, but celebration continues. Existence is continuous, it is a container. There is not a single moment's gap in it. But the village people could not understand and they could not participate in the laughter this day.
Then the body was to be burned, and the village people said, 'We will give him a bath as the ritual prescribes.' But those two friends said, 'No, our friend has said, "Don't perform any ritual and don't change my clothes and don't give me a bath. You just put me as I am on the burning pyre." So we have to follow his instructions.'
And then, suddenly, there was a great happening. When the body was put on the fire, that old man had played the last trick. He had hidden many fireworks under his clothes, and suddenly there was diwali! Then the whole village started laughing. These two mad friends were dancing, then the whole village started dancing. It was not a death, it was a new life.
No death is death, because every death opens a new door -- it is a beginning. There is no end to life, there is always a new beginning, a resurrection.

Understanding Structures and Systems

There are TWO sets of structures and systems on Earth - the living and the non-living. And these two sets are mutually incomprehensible. Almost. Life cares, but nature doesn't. By caring, I mean that life puts values on things which are utterly unconnected to the laws of nature.

"Unconditional Love"

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in Vietnam.

He called his parents from San Francisco."Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor to ask. I have a friend I'd like to bring home with me."

"Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him."

"There's something you should know the son continued, "he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mind and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us."

"I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to live."

"No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us."

"Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we can't let something like this interfere with our lives. I think you should just come home and forget about this guy. He'll find a way to live on his own."At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing more from him.

A few days later, however, they received a call from the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg.

The parents in this story are like many of us. We find it easy to love those who are good-looking or fun to have around, but we don't like people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. We would rather stay away from people who aren't as healthy, beautiful, or smart as we are. Thankfully, there's someone who won't treat us that way. Someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes us into the forever family, regardless of how messed up we are.

Vice Chancellor's Message

Once again we all here to welcome new promising & challenging academic session 2009-10 .
In an era of continuous and competitive emergence of new institutes of higher learning – especially new universities in both public and private sectors, taking the responsibility as VC of a state university naturally puts a tremendous weight of expectations and responsibilities.
In this scenario, Vice-Chancellorship no more remains a mere
privilege but also becomes a daunting responsibility. I have humbly taken this responsibility both as a privilege and an opportunity to make a difference.
On this beginning of new academic session , I reaffirm my resolve to take Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University to higher orbit of knowledge and social responsibility with the cooperation of all my students and colleagues.
We have given ourselves a new mantra "Impossible is impossible". We have decided to move beyond the mere geographical and acquire a truly global presence. We want to lead by doing, and we will shine by achieving. We too want to soar very high but staying linked to the roots.
I wish and dream that every individual member of this university finds in it a genuine reflection of her/his academic and professional aspirations

WEDDING RING (Try it out)

Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger? There is a beautiful and convincing explanation given by the Chinese.....

Thumb represents your Parents .Second (Index) finger represents your Siblings .Middle finger represents your-Self Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner & the Last (Little) finger represents your children .

Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together - back to back Secondly, open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb - tip to tip(As shown in the figure above).

Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)..., they will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later. Please join your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings)...., they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives. Now join the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children)...., they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day. Finally, join your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse). You will be surprised to see that you just CANNOT....., because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick and thin!! Please try this out............. ISN'T THIS A LOVELY THEORY?

Family problems?

(Fwd. Mail)

Two men, one American and an Indian were sitting in a bar drinking shot after shot.

The Indian man said to the American,"You know my parents are forcing me to get married to this so called homely girl from a village whom I haven't even met once.We call this arranged marriage.I don't want to marry a woman whom I don't love...I told them that openly and now have a hell lot of family problems."

The American said, " Talking about love marriages?... I'll tell you my story.I married a widow whom I deeply loved and dated for 3 years."After a couple of years, my father fell in love with my step-daughter and so my father became my son-in-law and I became my father's father-in-law.My daughter is my mother and my wife my grandmother.More problems occurred when I had a son. My son is my father's brother and so he is my uncle. Situations turned worse when my father had a son. Now my father's son I.e. My brother is my grandson.Ultimately, I have become my own grand father and I am my own grandson.

And you say you have family problems.. ? !

One day I decided to quit...

(Fwd. Mail)

One day I decided to quit...

I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality... I wanted to quit my life.

I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me...

"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.

I gave them light. I gave them water.

The fern quickly grew from the earth.

Its brilliant green covered the floor.

Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.

But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.

And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed.

But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.

"In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit.
In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed.
"I would not quit." He said. "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant...
But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling,
you have actually been growing roots." "I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you.
" Don't compare yourself to others .." He said.
" The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern ... Yet,
they both make the forest beautiful." Your time will come, " God said to me. " You will rise high! " How high should I rise?" I asked. How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return. "As high as it can? " I questioned. " Yes. " He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can. " I left the forest and bring back this story. I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you. He will never give up on you. Never regret a day in your life. Good days give you happiness Bad days give you experiences; Both are essential to life. A happy and meaningful life requires our continuous input and creativity.

The First Need

In winter, I prayed for the spring,

In spring, I wished to find love

In love, I sought power over time,

Endless youth, a summer wind above

In summer, I tried to forget,

the pains and wounds of the past

The sun's heat, and the warmth of love,

Perhaps it was too good to last.

What is real? How do we know what we know?

Two galaxies collide in a far off part of the universe resulting in violent collisions on a scale that is quite simply unimaginable to the human mind. Does anybody care? Nobody except maybe a few astronomers.

A hot meteorite falls into a remote part of an ocean, and kills 10,000 fishes, and millions of microbial life forms. Is any human bothered by it? Not likely.A brick falls from a building and injures a woman. Suddenly, everybody has an opinion about it, and even newspapers may report on the event.Life cares about survival before it cares about reality. The magnitude of importance to life of an event is quite different from the magnitude of the event. And that point makes living forms inherently biased in their study of nature and natural phenomena. Living forms may tend to even personalize nature - attributing to nature the same feelings which they have. Just like people used to believe that Earth was the center of universe and all other stars and planets moved around Earth, one of the fundamental instincts of living forms is to believe that the universe exists for them because they are alive to observe it. That instinct is the source of great pleasures when conditions of survival improve for a life form, and the source of great fears when such conditions deteriorate.Either way, looking at reality becomes impossible for living forms. To observe nature in its true form, it appears, one has to stop caring about anything. And yet survive to make the observations. Quite a feat, if someone can accomplish it successfully. The observer-observed link has quite interesting aspects in Quantum physics - such as the Schrödinger's Cat, or the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle.

So, we come to the important question from the last post: How do we know reality? The truthful answer is that we really don't. We only build models of reality and then carry out experiments to test the validity of those models. That is all that we can do. Some people believe that coherence of various unrelated models should be evidence of the possibility that a bigger/deeper model can be constructed, which will subsume all the smaller scale models. That is, for the most part, what we call the pursuit of science. So, first we build a crude model, then we define its parameters (variables), then we test the model for success or failure, and after all this comes analysis, which gives us ideas about how to refine / reshape the original model of reality of a phenomena which we are interested in. Our approach to reality, therefore, is like a tangent trying to study a circle - the two may intersect, but the linear tangent will never know the reality of curved lines.Unless a mind comes along which, for one reason or another, can do this modeling and refinement at speeds far faster than those of ordinary people. Such minds, called 'great' minds if they can articulate their perceptions well even mathematically, may even possess non-linear instincts which can relate better to the non-linear nature rather than to the linear thinking people around them. Solitude and silence attract such minds, while the linearly thinking people seem to aggregate in societies and build economies. Great minds could be mutually incoherent, while linear minds fall in step with each other. It may be true that we need both kinds of people to run this world well.Or to defend it against threats.
